Mosaic RT-1 Campagnolo Record 51 Demo
Considered by many to be one of the finest American titanium framebuilders, Mosaic Cycle’s flagship road racer and crown jewel is modestly known as the RT-1. A raw assemblage of titanium, it’s where head welder Aaron Barcheck and company have pulled out all the stops from their hermitage in Boulder, Colorado. Designed for timeless durability in all conditions, the RT-1 is a perennial favorite at Above Category, and this demo RT-1 has seen low, well-maintained miles in service during the 2016 season.
The RT-1 begins life as a 3/2.5 titanium tubeset, after which the front triangle is custom-butted by Mosaic for the rider – a step many other Ti builders don’t bother with (one of the only others is Baum). Why? Weight. And ride. Mated to an oversized 44mm headtube that an ENVE 2.0 fork slides into, the RT-1’s front-end can be built as stiff as even the most stout of carbon bikes. Just as well, the rear triangle of the RT-1 is rock-solid, with massive chainstays giving it an instant, drive-by-wire acceleration feel.
