Rain Insulation Jacket

Our view on rain jackets fits into two neat categories: They're either pieces we don to wear all day, when we know we're going to be riding through precipitation, or they're packable shells, taken along "just in case".

Q36.5's Rain Insulation Jacket fits into the first category, a jacket designed for a ride when the weather radar shows nothing but a dousing for the duration. It's one of our best friends for base miles in a rainy Northern California winter, and its wind/waterproof properties make it an excellent companion in deeper winter conditions with adequate layering. Using a three-layer breathable, waterproof fabric for the front panels, shoulders, arms, and lower back, along with venting side/underarm panels, it's a true high-intensity cold weather piece, designed to keep the rider dry from the inside out. While the silver aesthetic might look right at home in a 1960's Space Race film, it's actually an aspect of the commitment to functionality Q is devoted to. The outer polyamide/polyester woven fabric requires frost-dying instead of coating or printing to maintain breathability and rider comfort.

With a tighter cut than the Termica jacket, the Rain Insulation is designed to be used with simply a baselayer in mild to cool conditions, though we've been known to add a thermal long-sleeve jersey underneath when the mercury dips below 40°F. The Rain Insulation jacket has three rear pockets, and, like the rest of the Q36.5 line, is designed and made in Italy.
