Ever since the Swiss company was founded back in 1976 they have had a completely Swiss dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with technical cycling apparel.
Company founder Tony Maier was obsessed with finding new levels of efficiency for riders. That led Assos to be the first company to fabricate a bicycle frame from carbon fiber, invent the one-piece Lycra skinsuit, the cowhorn handlebar, the V-section aero rim and they single handedly invented the Lycra cycling short. After their early success with cycling shorts, Assos dedicated their energies almost entirely on creating the world’s best cycling apparel and today they steadily crank out new innovation from their headquarters just across the Swiss border from Lake Como.
We got our first pair of Assos bib shorts back in the 1980’s and, ever since, Assos has been our brand of choice.
